The following is an extract from the essay/writing.

While there were other monologues and monodramas written at the cusp of the 90‟s,3 these were primarily penned by a playwright, with minimal input from the actors. It is quite possible that Rosnah is the first workshopped monodrama in Singapore. This might be a throwaway piece of theatre trivia, if not for the questions raised as a result of the respective cultural backgrounds of its creators.
