Featuring a series of locally written and devised short plays, Encore IV: Love Life explores the joys and pains of love in its various manifestations.

After two successful presentations, The Necessary Stage's Theatre for Seniors is back with Encore III: Family Knots. Featuring a series of short plays mostly conceived by the participants, Encore III: Family Knots depicts different aspects of family life and the challenges of living in multi-racial and multi-lingual Singapore. Be prepared to laugh, cry and be entertained by the witty, humorous and emotionally charged performances by the members of Theatre for Seniors.

Featuring a series of short plays mostly devised by the participants, Encore II: Heartland! Heartland! depicts the Singaporean lifestyle in the high-rise buildings of HDB heartlands. Meet colourful characters in our public spaces such as coffeeshops, elevators, void decks and even markets. Peek behind their closed doors to witness domestic and familial scenes that reflect our common basic struggle for existence.

A theatre group of participants over the age of 50 will be putting up its first official performance – a medley of five short sketches which tell of stories drawn from life in the kampong, memorable first  loves and the realities of life for the elderly. Three will be performed in English and two in Mandarin.

The cast of 32 theatre enthusiasts have been training for one year under renowned theatre practitioners and are eager to entertain audiences with a splendid performance. This initiative was set up by The Necessary Stage to provide a meaningful activity for senior citizens to engage in.

A young Singaporean man is making a journey to his father's birthplace in Hyperabad, Pakistan. With him are his father's ashes. As he makes the arduous trip, he retraces the original journey made by millions of people - including his parents and grandparents - in 1947, during the partition of India and Pakistan. Eclipse is a play that looks at three generations of men struggling with their dreams and their journeys, offering an intimate look at personal stories affected by historical events.
