Today we're talking about change. Some people may think that change can be good or bad. We believe that we have it in us to change for the better. We would like to distinguish between right and wrong behaviours. Basic values must be upheld and must stand as the cornerstone of any modern society we live in. For example, we need to create social stability, harmony and security. We need to value traditional families and the importance of marriage. socially irresponsible behaviours such as racism, religious intolerance and alternative lifestyles threaten our nationhood- bringing adverse consequences to family and society at large. We would like to present three plays about change: Singles Can Change, Homosexuals Can Change, Marxists Can Change. Please enjoy the performance. We look forward to an engaging discussion.

In this educational and interactive programme, The Necessary Stage brings to the surface the issues of expectation and pressure in school – amongst friends, and within families.

My mother expects me to help her, the school expects me to attend remedial classes, you expect me to go out with you...I don't want to disappoint anyone but I need my own life! What I want most now is taking part in the school Talentime, because I really feel I can do well.

This programme will give Singapore teenagers the chance to air their shared concerns and frustrations and work together to find ways of coping, and solving problems.

However, rest turns into restlessness as she starts to lose her short-term memory. Her dream of a peaceful life soon becomes a nightmare of remembering and forgetting.

Encore: An Evening of Ageless Theatre

A theatre group of participants over the age of 50 will be putting up its first official performance – a medley of five short sketches which tell of stories drawn from life in the kampong, memorable first  loves and the realities of life for the elderly. Three will be performed in English and two in Mandarin.

The cast of 32 theatre enthusiasts have been training for one year under renowned theatre practitioners and are eager to entertain audiences with a splendid performance. This initiative was set up by The Necessary Stage to provide a meaningful activity for senior citizens to engage in.

An old woman is found sick and alone in her mice-infested house with vomit on her face and lying in her own faeces. She is put in a hospital where a social worker tries to help her.
