As part of TNS' Devising Platform 2022, six artist-collaborators explored interdisciplinary performance styles by using excerpts from "What We Inherit: Growing Up Indian", published by AWARE earlier this year.

On Friday 2nd December, 8pm, they opened their doors to a rehearsal session showcasing experimentation that uses various works in the book as a springboard to create new interdisciplinary narratives.

Awaken the actor within you and join us for The Necessary Stage’s Theatre for Seniors Acting Workshop! This workshop is targeted at participants aged 50 and above, with a keen interest in theatre and acting

Led by experienced theatre practitioner Julius Foo, this workshop will introduce seniors to the basic elements of acting, character and scene creation as well as working with text. With a vigorous and comprehensive curriculum, graduates of the workshop will experience first-hand the process of creating and performing their own theatrical pieces.

Simon Sharkey and his team at Cumbernauld Theatre are breaking new ground in Scotland schools, working with Drama, Dance, Multimedia, Animation, Make-up and Music as tools for tapping hidden potential and untapped intelligence even with the most disengaged youths.Arts For Life And Learning

Simon will share principles, strategies and techniques in his Educational work, and in particular, examples and ideas from the recent collaboration between Cumbernauld Theatre and The Necessary Stage - Fires Within Fires. In this project, students in Singapore and Scotland experienced a dynamic learning process, exploring life issues and utilising and developing multiple intelligences, through an exploration of the ideas and issues in Arthur Miller's text, The Crucible.

This will be a practical and participatory workshop, conducted with hands-on arts activities, discussions, and presentations from Simon.

MRT stations will come alive with colour and stories this year. Young people with disabilities will be sharing a day in their lives with us through drawings in the form of comic strips. These will be "exhibited" at selected MRT stations either along MRT tracks, in the trains, or at the station itself.

Named after the Beatles song, the project is focused towards the production of a cartoon series to be displayed at MRT station poster boards. The cartoon series emerging from the workshop depict a range of darkly ironic, dreamy and wildly humorous representations of the everyday experiences and imaginings of MRT passengers.

The artworks were previewed in an exhibition held in March. Reproductions of the artworks were also sold in the form of greeting cards.
