Invisibility is a bold new play by Quah Sy Ren, directed by our Resident Director, Kok Heng Leun. In the most chaotic time in the history of China, after the period of the Three Kingdoms, many sought to learn esoteric skills such as the art of making oneself invisible. What would a modern urban man do with the skill of invisibility? How many around us still seek this still?

Shakespeare's dramatic meditation on the evil in human nature, a literature text for most secondary schools, will be brought to life by The Necessary Stage. Directed by Ms Ann Meijer, a professional dramatist from the Netherlands on special visit, Macbeth will show students and adults alike the depth and dynamism of Shakespeare. Additionally, participants are given the opportunity to pose questions to the characters themselves. Staged at the Drama Centre, this play promises to be a memorable experience.

The use of an ancient tale allows creative distance where students are more willing to participate and appreciate. Land that has traditional significance for the town is threatened when a neighbouring city decides to build a road through it. Under the guidance of experienced actor-facilitators, students role-playing as town citizens and city dwellers attempt to resolve the conflict between progress and preservation. This exercise encourages students to examine values, social needs and self-expression.
