Kheng wants to take part in a school talent-time but her father would rather she help out more often at the family shop. Her good freind Michael wants her to spend more time with him. Kheng has schoolwork, tuition and ECAs to manage as well. What can Kheng do?

Kheng wants to go for a concert with her classmate Michael but fears that her mother will not allow her to stay out late. Under pressure, Kheng relents and Michael buys the tickets. When Kheng asks her mother, she is proven right as the latter disapproves of Michael and the expensive ticket price. Can Kheng negotiate with her mother?

Blood Cages is a juxtaposition of two plots set in distinctly different times-- China in the late 19th century and present day Singapore. The characters in both plots find themselves constantly trapped by family and culture and societal standard. In the end, we recognise that this bondage.. to our environment, to others, and to our own beliefs, is not exclusive to us, but part of a cycle we cannot escape from.

What happens to a plot of land in a country that is constantly changing? What happens to the families which are affected by the plot of land in a country that is constantly changing? What happens to the friends and neighbours, and strangers and spirits that are affected...
