This site-specific performance scrapes the inside out of Henry James' gothic novel Turn of the Screw, replacing it with the underbelly of local ghost lore. Join STAGES' young cast on a rediscovery of death as custom, the dead as neighbours and fear as a way of life. The work is conceptualised by Jonathan Lim with members of STAGES.

History, Whose Story? touches on Singapore's history in order to stimulate a discussion on the importance and relevance of history in the daily lives of students. It focuses on the relationship between Sir Stamford Raffles and Munshi Abdullah, as well as popular characters from Singapore's past, and is told through the eyes of a present-day student who discovers the many different voices of history.

The dating game can be alluring, exciting and romantic for many teenagers. However, there are other issues that come with relationships, some of which do not cross the minds of impulsive teenagers, especially when it comes to sex. This play introduces to students the notion of trust in relationships with the opposite sex, and possible consequences when that trust is broken. It deals with the influence of peer pressure and the media and aims to encourage students to reflect on dating at their age and whether they are ready and prepared for what it really entails.

A totally new theatrical concoction. A mockumentary. A corporate video. An installation.  A short movie. What the hell do The Necessary Stage, Singapore and Marine Parade have to do with the death of "England's Rose"?

2 actors and a talk show. Issues of the day are trashed out in the most in-your-face, tongue-in-cheek ways.

Talk was first staged in 1994. For this version, we have made extensive changes. The initial impetus behind the original was the whole idea of talk shows and media. It was a send-off, a spoof, a satire. For this version, we are working with two very giving and dedicated actors, Darren Chiam and Peter Sau. We spent a few rehearsals improvising different scenarios, sexploring various styles and forms, discussing etc.

The play/production has taken a different slant. It's now less clear, less coherent. Our collaboration has been meaningful. Script, set, music and performance have all evolved naturally - bouncing off, and dependent on, one another. Such a process is always daunting - much preparation can be beforehand, but the real composition only takes place during rehearsals. We would like to thank Peter, Darren and Dimin for making the journey a smooth one. Happy.
